Additional Information: Mokumè-ganè Silver Wave and Raindrop patterns are composed of 21 alternating layers of copper and sterling silver. The billet of layered metals is hand worked by carving, bumping, filing and rolling to expose the layers as light and dark patterns. Mokumè Jazz pattern is composed of copper and sterling silver, plus two additional alloys: Shibuichi and Shakudo. Shibuichi contains 15% fine silver in a copper base, and Shakudo is 4% fine gold in a copper base. These alloys were used during the Han Dynasty in China, and similar alloys were used by pre-Columbian metal smiths. |
